Tank Setup for African Cichlid

If you decide to create an African cichlid tank, chances are that this is not your first aquarium. I decided for the first time, other African cichlids to see some zebras red and yellow lab in a pet store and ask why the section is not colored fish saltwater. I do not know how many colorful fish, marine fish African Cichlids also very interesting to watch. The area is a fish with a little attitude. It may pagdederekta the proper storage of your aquarium.

You must first decide who want to implement the three lakes to duplicate your aquarium. African Cichlids of Lake Tanganyika, Lake Victoria and Lake Malawi. The three lakes of hard water with high pH. I suggest starting with mbuna of Lake Malawi. Mbuna is a sort of stone house, mouthbrooding and omnivorous cichlids. The common varieties are in store for pets as local and not too expensive place.

Mbunas require a lot of space and hiding spots in their aquarium. You must use a 55 gallon or larger aquarium cichlids to keep. You can also use limestone or holy (limestone rock with many holes) and caves. They are usually arranged at the rear of the tank allows free beach in front of the tank. A common substrate used in the aquarium mbuna meeting was crushed. The use of crushed coral substrate helps to maintain the high pH and water hardness.

Cichlid Tank requires many filters to keep people healthy. I usually take two large sponge filters in each rear corner in combination with a large filter hanging on the back of the tank or two smaller in the tank. Filters depend (or flooding) cleans particles from the aquarium, while the amounts of dust filter great house bacteria that convert ammonia to nitrite and nitrite to nitrate.

African cichlids need a water temperature around 80 degrees F. It is probably a water heater of 150 watts to each end of a tank of 55 liters. The type of submarine with a temperature setting preferred. They cost a little more, but it’s worth. They last much longer than the cheapest remaining behind the tank.

After the aquarium is set up with the right substrate, many hidden rooms, heating, filters, and is filled with dechlorinated water, the pH must know the value and water hardness. You may test kits for water at your local pet store. Coral lime and crushed raised the pH of your water and drive from what comes from your tap. You need a pH of 7.4-8.6 and a hardness of 10.0-20.0 dH.

It is my experience with tap water with a relatively mild pH neutral configuration cichlid tank used above, I do adjust the water hardness and pH is exactly where I want.

Testing the water in your poverty. If your tap water is hard enough, you may be lucky and have to make a change. Probably, however, you should increase the hardness of water. You can place the hardness of the African cichlid salt. You see in your local pet store or online.

Tilapia with salt, until you reach a poverty level of 15.0 dH. At this point, check your pH. Its pH should be around 8 to this point. If necessary, you must also define. It is unlikely if you have high hardness of this level.

Now you can buy your first African cichlids. Initially, the purchase of a tank for cichlids and leave the tank for about two weeks. This gives time aquarium needed to grow the bacteria in the waste tanks, which can dissolve the nitrogen cycle. You can work around this problem, they created one of the palm of a filter tank for a few weeks to get your tank cichlids. In this way a sponge filter all bacteria necessary for the nitrogen cycle. If you then upload to your new tank, you will actually colonies of bacteria migrated into the new reservoir is necessary.

At this point, your African cichlid tank, and the race! If you feed your mbuna tank, spirulina flakes and cichlid ice. If it is well stocked, up 30% to 50% water changes on a weekly basis. Dip the pieces if you do this, and you have a healthy and growing community of African cichlids
